Paradox of Place: Contemporary Korean Art Is On View

Seattle, WA- “Paradox of Place: Contemporary Korean Art” will be on display from October 31, 2015 through March 13, 2016 at the Seattle Asian Art Museum. This will be the first major exhibition of Korean contemporary art in Seattle in the past decade.

The exhibition explores media installation, video art and photography, all of which are prominent forms in Korean contemporary art.  Each work in its own way addresses an important issue, often poignant, and yet as a group explore paradoxes in Korean art and society.

The show is comprised of works by six leading-edge Korean contemporary artists’ such as Noh Seon Teck, Yang Hoe Gyu, Lee Suk Gyeong, Lee Yong Baek, Lim Min Wook, and Jung Yeon Doo for the first time in Seattle.

“Paradox of Place” is co-organized by the Seattle Art Museum and National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA), in collaboration with Choi Eun Ju, former chief curator of MMCA sponsored by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
