'2015 Mukilteo Christmas Concert' will take place on December 17th, where Korean-Americans and the local community get together for musical performances and holiday festivities to share love and gratitude.

The Ahn Family Fund will continue to sponsor the 21th annual concert with excellent sound system at Lynnwood Trinity Lutheran Church. The event starts at 7:30 in the evening.

Pastor Sungjin-Ahn, a music enthusiast and philanthropist who passed away in 2002, first hosted the Mukilteo Christmas Concert in 1993 with his family as a way to give back to the community he had spent his last 22 years in.

Pastor Ahn’s family has a number of gifted musicians, some of whom perform regularly at the event, notably his grandson Kwan-bin Park and granddaughter Yuri Namkoong, who are both graduates of the Julliard School of Music, and Jean-sun Ahn, an excellent violinist.

In addition to celebrating the birth of Christ with the local community, Pastor Ahn’s family has been donating all funds raised by the event to charity.

Over 600 people flock to the event every year. To accommodate the growing number of attendees, the event venue has been changed to Lynnwood Trinity Lutheran Church last year. The Seattle office of Asiana Airlines has also joined in sponsoring the concert since last year.

Musical director Kwan-bin Park will perform with the chamber ensemble, and Jean-sun Ahn will do a solo violin performance. Opera singer Ksenia Popova will also do a guest performance.

David McDade, Head of Coach-Accompanists at Seattle Opera will play the piano, and Bellevue Girlchoir will perform their ensemble.

Famous student pianist Sun Chang, who is originally from Seattle, will also perform at the event. Chang has been attending Northwestern University with full scholarship and made headlines in the community by performing with Camerata Chicago, a Chicago-based chamber orchestra last summer. Chang is currently an exchange student at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London and is visiting her family during vacation.

Pastor Ahn’s daughter Moon-ja Ahn, who is organizing the event together with her husband Kil-song Lee, stated of the event: “We have prepared the concert with sincere gratitude and joy. I hope many fellow Americans from the local community will attend the event at the new venue and enjoy Christmas with hundreds of Korean music enthusiasts.”
