“The Tiger: An Old Hunter’s Tale” release on January 8th
Attracting millions of viewers after its original release in Korea, The Tiger: An Old Hunter’s Tale is to be released today on January 8th in the following three locations: the AMC Loews Alderwood Mall 16 in Lynnwood, Century Theatres at The Commons in Federal Way, and Cinemark Theatres at Century 16 Eastport Plaza in Portland, OR.
Six years after the success of “I Saw the Devil (2010), director Park Hoon-jung and actor Choi Min-sik collaborate again in this action period drama. The film follows the story of Man-deok, a retired hunter who is challenged by the hunt of the last surviving tiger – the king of the mountain.
It is 1925 in Korea under the Japanese rule, and high-ranking Japanese officer Maenojo is determined to collect the skin of the last surviving tiger, a large ferocious beast that has been revered and feared by the locals for many years. Maenojo orders his Korean subordinate Ryoo to capture the animal, but all attempts fail and Ryoo turns to get some help from Man-deok, a once prominent hunter who now lives away from civilization in a remote shack with his son.
Alongside the world famous actor Choi Min-sik, veteran Japanese actor Ren Osugi also stars in the film. With stunning cinematography of the Korean mountains and an impressive CGI creation of the beast, The Tiger delivers a visually striking high-end production of Korean cinema.
