United Seattle & Bellevue Korean School ends its 1st semester with Korean market
2nd semester starts on February 6th with its first preschool class
United Seattle & Bellevue Korean School (USBKS) ended its 1st semester of the 2015-2016 school year with a day of Korean market, an event that has been highly anticipated by its students.
Last week on January 23rd, students were given the opportunity to buy stationary items, food, toys and other sundry goods with the money they have been awarded in exchange for their attendance, homework and classroom attitude during their first semester at USBKS.
At the event, students could use their Korean knowledge in real-life settings while learning the value of money earned through hard work. Various foods and traditional Korean folk games were prepared in order to expose the students to their home country’s traditions.
Middle and high school students put up their Korean language poems, and younger students enrolled in extracurricular classes (art and origami) put up their artwork for friends and family members to see.
King County Superior Court Judge Samuel Sangki Chung also visited the event as a parent to show his support, and made a generous donation to the school.
Established 20 years ago in order to provide opportunities to people of all ages and backgrounds to learn the Korean language, culture and history, USBKS will be offering its first preschool class starting on February 6th due to growing demands by parents.
Parents of students enrolled at the USBKS who wish to improve their Korean language ability may register for a discounted rate of $100 per semester. Other extracurricular classes are offered with limited space.
