KAC-WA voter registration & director election to be determined as a focal project

KAC-WA, an organization that works to increase the rights and interests and political influence of Korean Americans, has set their goal to engage many Korean Americans in an election this year.

Accordingly, they had an executive meeting as a New Year’s celebration on January 24th and shared the view of their main project this year as the following: ▲ running a voter registration campaign ▲ scouting a part-time director ▲ holding a forum for candidates ▲ fundraising.

President Joon-Woo Lee and Chief Soon-Ah Kim took part in the meeting that included Joo Hong, Shary Song, Seung-Young Lee, Jully Kang, Si-Eun Oh, Ma-Tae Bae and Erica Jung, among others.

KAC-WA is carrying out an extensive voter registration campaign, starting this year since a new law has mandated a voters’ pamphlet in Korean in King County. The campaign aims to have more Korean Americans participating in the upcoming presidential and gubernatorial elections.

Also, election candidates are invited to a forum, to discuss visions and policies for Korean Americans in November when elections will be held.

In order to promote the aforementioned projects, they have decided to elect a part-time director as well as to plan on holding a fundraising event in November.

President Joon-Woo Lee and Chief Sun-Ah Kim said, “along with the fact that the regulation publishing a voters’ pamphlet in Korean went into effect, KAC-WA has played a pivotal role in representing the united power of Korean-American society,” and requested “all first and second generations of Korean-Americans actively participate in upcoming elections by registering as voters.”
