A fruit-flavored soju, Sunhari Chum Churum, will be launched in Seattle, which has gained sensational popularity in Korea’s alcohol beverage market.

According to Fosco Inc., an international import and wholesale distributor of alcohol beverages, a plum-flavored soju is first released in Seattle on February 25, and so are the ones with citron and apple flavors in a series afterwards.

Under the catchphrases, “the soju that cannot be purchased with money,” or “3000 leagues in search of Sunhari,” it recorded 40 million bottles in sales within 100 days of its first release last year, which indicates 2 bottles per person are sold with an estimation of 20 million people over the ages of 20.

Along with Sunhari’s successful launch in Korea, it also strengthened its position as a Ready to Serve (RTS) cocktail that does not require further additions to enjoy. Sunhari Plum is a soju-based cocktail that contains a plum flavor, and Sunhari Citron is with natural citron concentrate and flavor.

With an alcohol content of 14%, it cuts through the softness and latches onto the richness of plum and citrus flavors.

The Fosco representative said that Sunhari is a signature product that has shifted the leading power in the Korean liquor market, as many sweet-flavored sojus from different manufacturers have also appeared.

“We are excited to offer Sunhari directly to customers in Seattle, and expect positive results that young women and foreigners will find it appealing, especially due to its low-proof and fruity traits,” he added.

“As drinking culture has diffused, the popularity of fruit-flavored, carbonated drinks with low alcoholicity will continue,” said its distributors.
