Kenneth Bae, a US citizen who was detained in North Korea in 2012 and returned to Lynnwood, WA last year upon his release, will be publishing his memorandum after a year of silence.

A Christian publishing firm Thomas Nelson announced on October 5th that Kenneth Bae’s new book, “Not Forgotten: The True Story of My Imprisonment in North Korea”, is scheduled to be released next May.

It is said Bae will write in detail about his arrest, detainment, sentence to hard labor, the severe condition of the camp, the secret mission by the US government and his release.

The publishing company implied that his visit was for missionary purposes, and stated “Bae never gave up his love and compassion for the North Korean citizens, even for the government officials who arrested him”.

Bae was arrested in North Korea on November 3rd of 2012 for alleged anti-communist activities, and was sentenced to 15 years of correctional labor in April the following year.

He returned to the United States last year on November 8th with fellow American detainee Matthew Todd Miller (aged 25 at the time), after a secret mission by the top US intelligence official James Clapper won their release.

Kenneth Bae, the son of Seong-Seo Bae, a former professional baseball coach of the Korean league, currently resides in Lynnwood with his family members. He also has a younger sister, Terri Chung, who teaches English at North Seattle Community College and resides in Edmonds.
