Seattle-Washington State Korean Association Seattle Dokdo Public Relations Committee are having a special form on Dokdo, islets of South Korea, called ‘South Korea’s Beautiful Islets, Ulleungdo-Dokdo’.
Dokdo is South Korea’s group of beautiful islets situated at the eastern end of the East Sea. It has officially been South Korea’s territory ever since 1900 when Korean Empire included Dokdo under Ulldo Province (Now, Ulleung Island). Also, many Korean historical records from as early as year 512 stated these islets as Korea’s territory.
This forum will be held at KOAM TV Hall located at Federal Way from November 3rd to November 6th, showing total of more than 60 items including 30 pictures, 30 ancient artifacts including maps, documents, and ancient artifacts.
On November 3rd at 5:30pm, Seung Jin Lee, the chief curator of Dokdo Museum, will be giving a special presentation on the ongoing ownership/historical conflict between Japan at KOAM TV Hall. During this presentation, a film showing modern and contemporary history of Ulleungdo called ‘Out There a Lone Island’ will be played as a part of presentation as well.
Entry for this forum is open to any and all who has interest or is willing to learn more about Dokdo and Ulleungdo. Seung Ju Hong, chairman of Dokdo Public Relations Committee, stated ‘This forum on Dokdo will be a great opportunity to learn more about Korea’s beautiful islets and will also be a great chance to show children how beautiful and species-rich Dokdo and Ulleungdo are.
