Brains of Korea – Korean faculties from the UW and visiting scholars from Korea share research ideas.

On November 7th, Korean faculties from University of Washington including Dr. Clark Sorenson and Chancellor Wolf Yeigh, and visiting scholars from Korea had a professional networking forum at the Husky Union Building. These group of scholars has been meeting regularly to mentor Korean students in need, to promote friendship, and to share their research.

This forum started with an opening remarks from Prof. Sihoun Han. More than twenty scholars including the UW faculty and visiting scholars from Korea attended this forum and introduced themselves and spoke what their works have been and their focus of current research projects. Visiting scholars were not only a groups of professors but also had prosecutors and researchers from the Korean government.

Guest speakers Dr. Clark Sorenson from the Center for Korean Studies and Chancellor Wolf Yeigh from the UW Bothell campus both spoke how Korean faculties are helping the community and research on many different fields. Dr. Clark Sorenson spoke the importance of Korean studies department and the rising impact of graduates in the U.S. 

As forum ended, many scholars spoke to each other and some of them managed to conduct a collaborative research. Dr. Clark Sorenson and some visiting scholars from Korea have discussed to do a further research on Korea’s ancient forms of architecture and publish it into English.
