The Korean import corporation serving retail markets and restaurants held a successful tasting event. They served rice wine (makgeolli) from Korea, sake from Japan, and other traditional Asian beverages found in the state of Washington.

Co-Ho imports held the event at the Korean restaurant Blue Ginger on April 7. More than one hundred wholesale beverage dealers visited the event, some with connections to large retailers such as Fred Meyer. Many tasted and lavishly complimented the Asian liquors.

There were more than one hundred types of alcohols such as Korean style Soju, Makgeolli, and beer, Japanese style refined rice wine, and Chinese style Maotai. Cocktail expert Karen Johnson was invited to present the ‘Soju cocktail’, a popular part of the Korean Wave.

Visitors from this event commented that “American beverages are simple, like whiskey, beer and wine, whereas Asian beverages are diverse such as Soju, refined rice wine, fruit wine, grain wine etc. and of course beer. It offers Americans a great opportunity to try different, fresh and palatable beverages".

The CEO of Co-Ho import corporation, Mr. Cho stated “The demand of Asian beverages recently has increased greatly in the American market, and its quality is highly appreciated. It would be great if Korean communities took more interest in making Asian beverages more popular".
