Vice President Julie Kang, instated Myung Rae Park and Sandra Englund as new vice chairmans.

 

KAC-WA, a political organization of 1st and 2ndgenerations of Korean Americans, held a ceremony of new officers Joon Woo Lee and Soona Kim.

 

New Officers are following: Julie Kang, a president of United Seattle Korean School, as a Vice President. Myung Rae Park, Head of International Cooperation at Pierce College, as a Vice Chairman. Sandra Englund as a Vice Chairman.

 

Kick-off event took place at Seattle Holiday Inn, and these following attendees, as the representatives of Korean community celebrated new officials and requested to continue to support rights and interests of Korean community: students from University of Washington (UW) and Seattle Pacific University (SPU), Former Gates Foundation Chairman Martha Choi and Kwang Jae Shin, a current president and a former chairman of the Northwest Unification Advisory Council, Bu Won Yoon, head of Korean Community Service Center, Jae Wook Kim, head of WA state Korean Association-Federal Way, Yoon Sun Hong, head of WA state Koran Association-Seattle, Kyung Ho Ko, head of Grocery Association.

 

Former chairman of Gates Foundation, Martha Choi requested the 1stgenerations to be the mentors of 1.5th generation and 2ndgeneration, asserting “the biggest duty of 1st generation is to find and appoint an experienced, wise leader that could replace the current generation.” She also pleased to students to “acquire knowledge and experiences that 1st generation has obtained and develop our community.”

 

New President Joon Woo Lee claimed that he will “give careful attention to Korean community and build a bridge between 1st and 2ndgeneration.” He also pleased for consistent support to raising the status of Korean community.

 

Chairman Soona Kim urged, “KAC is a unique organization that various generations of Korean Americans working for future vision in the community, and will try my best to increase participation of Korean community.”

 

Susan Lee, Head of National Unification Advisory Council-Seattle, requested KAC-WA to actively help the future generations to live in America with Korean pride.

Consul Byung Kwon Kim also stated, “Because the purpose of KAC-WA is supporting 2nd generation to actively participate in the leading society, Seattle Consulate will continue support KAC-WA.”

 

KAC-WA is planning to hold an annual event of golf competition and legal seminar. Their website is also planning to upgrade its services.

 

During this event, KAC-WA awarded an appreciation plaque to Kwang Jae Shin (former chairman) and CDS that gave a big help on improvements of KAC-WA.
