World-wide national marriage feminist organization Advisor [this sounds like the name of an organization, but it’s unclear from the 원본…] , Lea Armstrong gave a scholarship of [this number needs to be checked 20million 4,000] dollars, helping fulfill hopes and dreams again this year.
Armstrong who founded the Lea Armstrong Corporation (LASCO) handed out 1,500 dollars scholarships in downtown Tacoma at C.I. Shenanigans restaurant on Sep. 2nd to 16 single parents students who work at the restaurant, raising children and studying at college at the same time.
Every year 10 to 15 students receive the scholarship, but this year the number of students increased to 16, giving the privilege to more students.
These students devote themselves to study and higher education, even after having facing difficulties with divorce and raising children by themselves.
Beneficiaries Clinton Coli, who majors in Electrical Architecture at Bates Technical College, and Hannah Bugstrom, who majors in Nursing at Pierce College, were wet with tears as they said that the scholarship is the beginning of a hope, and to never give up on their dreams.
Armstrong stated that after she attended Green River Community College from 1995 to 2000, she realized how much hardship students of single parent families were going through to attain their education.
In order to help single parents students to have hope and courage to continue their education, she founded LASCO in 2003, and since then every autumn she awards 1,000 to 1,500 dollars scholarships to 10 to 15 students.
Advisor Armstrong jas awarded 171 students with over 2 million dollars through LASCO over the last thirteen years.
At the scholarship award ceremony, she told her story of having a hard time after immigrating to the U.S. with only fifty dollars a half century ago. She said that in any difficult circumstance, you should never give up on your dreams. Now there are people who support you and cheer on your devotion and courage, so she hopes you put forward your whole efforts to achieve your goals.
