By June 2017, the National Unification Advisory Council (NUAC) has decided to focus on 18 major businesses to grow ‘reunification ambassadors’.

On 9th, executives including Susan Lee, the chair of the NUAC, held the inauguration ceremony and had their first press conference to announce the specifics of their business plan.

On the 18th, the NUAC plans to host a ‘Security Talks’ event at the KOAM Hall with Dukho Moon, the Consul General in Seattle, as the main guest speaker. This ‘Security Talks’ is not limited to the members of the NUAC but open to leaders of the Korean community. The theme of the event is ‘Reunification of the Two Koreas’ and Consul General Moon plans to speak about current East Asian issues related to Korea.

Susan stated that “we have been working hard to contribute to the reunification of the two Koreas. We plan to grow more people with better ideas on the reunification of the two Koreas and make them the foundation of reunification."

To raise awareness of the issue, the NUAC is working on hosting a ‘KOR-UW Young Leaders’ Conference’ next June at the University of Washington and Pierce College. The executives plan to invite Korean-American leaders from different fields as guest speakers to share their vision and thoughts with future leaders.

They are also working on having a ‘KOR-US Women Leaders’ Conference’ in October 2016 as well to discuss the importance of women’s role in the reunification of the two Koreas. In 2017 the NUAC is planning on having a gold tournament to raise funds for North Korean defectors to settle into a new life.
